Students from Sir Isaac Newton East sixth form, which specialises in mathematics and science, recently had the opportunity to visit the prestigious University of Cambridge. The trip aimed to give students an insight into life at one of the top universities in the world and inspire them to aim high in their academic pursuits.

All students who attend Sir Isaac Newton East study facilitating subjects that provide them with the opportunity to apply to Oxbridge or Russell Group universities - the highest-ranking universities in the world. Many of the students at Sir Isaac Newton East are looking to join careers in medicine, engineering, and science, and their visit to Cambridge has left them feeling inspired and motivated.

During the trip, the students were given a tour of Gonville and Caius College, one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in Cambridge. They also had the opportunity to attend a lecture, choosing between STEM or humanities subjects. The lecture gave them a real taste of what it would be like to study at university and helped them better understand what they need to do to achieve their academic goals.

Beth in Year 12 said,

"I was blown away by the experience. The visit to Cambridge has given me a real taste of what it would be like to study at the university, and I'm more motivated than ever. The Q&A session with the admissions team was particularly helpful. It gave me a clear understanding of what I need to do to be successful in my university applications. I'm now more determined than ever to do well in my exams so that I can study biomedicine at Gonville and Caius and hopefully go on to make a real difference in the world of medicine."
